My Story

Ginger Juel Painting & Finishes grew out of working on real Duluth homes, not idealized ones. As a family-run painting team based in Duluth, our work has always been shaped by the specific conditions of this place.

Many of the homes we work in sit on the hillside or near Lake Superior, where wind, sun, and moisture affect siding and trim differently depending on exposure and elevation. Over time, we’ve learned that coatings, prep, and timelines that work elsewhere don’t always hold up here.

A large portion of our projects involve older Duluth homes built before modern drywall was common. Plaster walls, original trim, and aging surfaces require stabilization and repair before painting. Skipping those steps leads to failure, so our approach prioritizes longevity over speed for its own sake.

Northern Minnesota’s freeze–thaw cycles and coastal moisture create constant stress on exterior finishes and vulnerable interior areas like basements and entryways. Our process accounts for these realities, from surface prep to curing conditions, so the work holds up beyond the first season.

This experience comes from years of hands-on work in Duluth homes, and it continues to guide how we approach every project.

Short-Notice Painting Projects in Duluth

Not every painting project can wait weeks. We regularly take on short-notice and time-sensitive painting work throughout Duluth and the Twin Ports. These projects often involve move-ins, rentals between tenants, seasonal refreshes, or business spaces preparing to open or reopen. When timelines are tight, clear communication and efficient execution matter more than promises.
