I focus on intentional, projects where detail, material quality, and finish matter.
Surface Design for Development Projects
I provide custom tile, mosaic and textured surface installations for residential and commercial development projects. My work adds material depth, durability, and visual distinction to interiors without disrupting construction schedules.
I specialize in finishes using plaster, lime, silica, stone, slate, marble, basalt, sand, crystals, and reclaimed natural materials. These surfaces are designed for longevity and visual impact in both wet and dry environments when installed on properly prepared substrates.
Where My Work Fits in the Build
I typically join projects:
After framing and waterproofing are complete
Once drywall or cement board is installed and ready for finish work
During renovation phases where surface upgrades create value without full rebuilds
I coordinate directly with project managers, site supervisors, and licensed contractors.
Wet & High-Moisture Applications
Bathrooms, showers, steam rooms, and spa environments, installed over existing waterproofed systems prepared by the build team.
Dry Interior Applications
Feature walls, lobbies, stairwells, corridors, and unit interiors using sheetrock, plaster, or wood substrates.
Light-Conscious Design
Surface texture and aggregate selection are designed with lighting conditions in mind to ensure materials read correctly under both natural and installed light.
Project Scale & Timeline
Typical project minimum: $1000+
Average timeline: 1–2 weeks per scope
Ideal for feature installations, value-add renovations, and differentiated unit upgrades
Ideal Clients
Residential and mixed-use developers
Hospitality and short-term rental operators
Design-build teams seeking a reliable specialty finish partner
Scope Clarity
I provide surface design and mosaic application only. Structural work, waterproofing, and substrate preparation are completed by licensed trades.
Long-Term Partnerships
I am open to preferred-vendor relationships for developers seeking a reliable specialty finish partner for ongoing or multi-site projects.
Painting Services in Duluth, Minnesota
Based in Duluth and serving the Twin Ports, I provide professional painting services tailored to older homes, coastal conditions, and clients who want the job done right the first time.Serving neighborhoods: Duluth • Lakeside • Congdon • Lincoln Park • Proctor • Hermantown • Superior
My Story
Ginger Juel Painting & Finishes grew out of working on real Duluth homes, not idealized ones. As a family-run painting team based in Duluth, our work has always been shaped by the specific conditions of this place.
Many of the homes we work in sit on the hillside or near Lake Superior, where wind, sun, and moisture affect siding and trim differently depending on exposure and elevation. Over time, we’ve learned that coatings, prep, and timelines that work elsewhere don’t always hold up here.
A large portion of our projects involve older Duluth homes built before modern drywall was common. Plaster walls, original trim, and aging surfaces require stabilization and repair before painting. Skipping those steps leads to failure, so our approach prioritizes longevity over speed for its own sake.
Northern Minnesota’s freeze–thaw cycles and coastal moisture create constant stress on exterior finishes and vulnerable interior areas like basements and entryways. Our process accounts for these realities, from surface prep to curing conditions, so the work holds up beyond the first season.
This experience comes from years of hands-on work in Duluth homes, and it continues to guide how we approach every project.
Short-Notice Painting Projects in Duluth
Not every painting project can wait weeks. We regularly take on short-notice and time-sensitive painting work throughout Duluth and the Twin Ports. These projects often involve move-ins, rentals between tenants, seasonal refreshes, or business spaces preparing to open or reopen. When timelines are tight, clear communication and efficient execution matter more than promises.
